The ten tapes founded two years ago are now digitally restored and will be sold at auction this May in London.
Two years after a meticulous restoring made by sound engineer Martin Nichols, the lost tapes rescued in a damp cave of a West London hotel will be sold at auction.
Among the tapes are recordings of Bob Marley and The Wailers in London at the Lyceum (1975), the Hammersmith Odeon (1976), the Rainbow (1977), and the Pavilion de Paris (1978) in France.
As Nichols told The Guardian, “They really were in such an appalling condition they should have been binned, but I spent hours on hours, inch by inch, painstakingly cleaning all the gunge off until they were ready for a process called ‘baking’, to allow them to be played safely.”
The auction managed by Omega Auctions will take place on May 21 in London. Three bundles with a starting price of 25.000 pounds.
